Sparkling Cranberry Rosemary Mocktail: Best Easy Holiday Drink

  • Author: Sarah Wasserman
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

This Sparkling Cranberry Rosemary Mocktail is a light, festive, and refreshing non-alcoholic drink that combines tart cranberry juice with earthy rosemary simple syrup and fizzy sparkling water. It’s perfect for holiday gatherings and easy to make in advance.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (100g) fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 3 to 4 sprigs fresh rosemary, plus extra for garnish
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (240ml) water for the syrup
  • 2 cups (480ml) unsweetened cranberry juice
  • 2 cups (480ml) sparkling water or club soda
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) fresh lime juice (from about 1 lime)
  • Ice cubes as needed
  • Optional garnish: lime slices, fresh rosemary sprigs, sugared cranberries

Instructions

  1. Make the rosemary simple syrup: In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of granulated sugar. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar completely dissolves (about 3 to 4 minutes).
  2. Infuse the syrup: Add 1 cup of cranberries and 3 to 4 sprigs of fresh rosemary. Reduce heat to low and simmer gently for 8 to 10 minutes until cranberries start to pop and release their color.
  3. Strain the syrup: Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes. Pour through a fine-mesh strainer into a glass measuring cup or bowl, pressing on solids with the back of a spoon. Discard solids. Let cool completely, then refrigerate until ready to use.
  4. Chill your ingredients: Ensure cranberry juice, sparkling water, and lime juice are well-chilled before assembling.
  5. Assemble the mocktail: Fill a glass halfway with ice cubes. Add 2 tablespoons (30ml) of rosemary simple syrup, 1/2 cup (120ml) unsweetened cranberry juice, and 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice.
  6. Top with sparkling water: Slowly pour 1/2 cup (120ml) chilled sparkling water into the glass. Stir gently to combine.
  7. Garnish and serve: Add a fresh rosemary sprig (slap it between your hands first), a thin slice of lime, and sugared cranberries if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

The rosemary simple syrup can be made up to 2 weeks in advance and stored in the refrigerator. For a party, mix everything except the sparkling water in a pitcher and let guests add their own fizz. To make sugared cranberries: simmer 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup sugar, add 1 cup fresh cranberries for 2 minutes, drain, toss in 1/2 cup sugar, and dry on parchment paper for 1 hour.
