Description
These honey garlic salmon bites are saucy, sticky, and satisfying, ready in just 10 minutes. Perfect for busy weeknights, they feature a sweet-savory glaze that clings to tender salmon cubes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb salmon fillet, skin removed and cut into 1-inch cubes
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional but recommended)
- 2 tablespoons water
- Optional garnishes: sesame seeds, sliced green onions, red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Prep the salmon (2 minutes): Pat the salmon fillet dry with paper towels. Remove the skin if still attached. Cube the salmon into 1-inch pieces, roughly the same size.
- Make the sauce (1 minute): In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and water. Set aside.
- Heat the pan (1 minute): Place a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Heat until the oil shimmers.
- Sear the salmon (3-4 minutes): Carefully place the salmon cubes in the hot pan in a single layer. Let sear undisturbed for about 2 minutes until golden-brown. Flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until just cooked through.
- Add the sauce (1 minute): Pour the honey garlic sauce over the salmon bites. Cook for 30-60 seconds, gently stirring to coat each piece. The sauce will reduce and thicken.
- Finish and serve (1 minute): Remove from heat. Drizzle with sesame oil if using. Transfer to a serving plate and spoon remaining glaze over the top. Garnish as desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
Pat the salmon dry for a good sear. Don’t move the salmon too early; let it sear undisturbed. Watch the heat once the sauce is added to prevent burning. Work in batches if needed. Use room-temperature salmon if possible. Taste the sauce before adding it to adjust sweetness or saltiness.
