Quick Caramel Apple Nachos with Candy Toppings

  • Author: Sarah Wasserman
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

These Quick Caramel Apple Nachos are a fast, fun, and ridiculously good dessert made with crisp apple slices, warm caramel, melted chocolate, and crunchy candy toppings. Ready in under 10 minutes, they’re perfect for last-minute cravings, bake sales, or weeknight treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith preferred)
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade, such as Marzettis)
  • 1/4 cup semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup white chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)
  • A pinch of flaky sea salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped fun-size candy bars (Snickers, Milky Way, or Twix)
  • 1/4 cup chopped peanut butter cups (Reese’s)
  • 1/4 cup toffee bits (Heath bar or Skor bits)
  • 1/4 cup crushed pretzels (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and core the apples. Cut into thin rounds (about 1/4-inch thick). Leave the skin on. Remove seeds and tough core pieces.
  2. Arrange the apple slices in a single layer on a serving platter, overlapping slightly if needed. Fan them out in a circular pattern.
  3. Pour the caramel sauce into a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 15-20 seconds, then stir until pourable but not hot. If too thick, add a teaspoon of milk or water.
  4. Drizzle the warm caramel evenly over the apple slices using a spoon or pastry brush. Use about half the caramel first, then add more after other toppings.
  5. In a separate small bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in the microwave in 20-second bursts, stirring between each, until smooth and glossy.
  6. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the caramel-covered apples in a back-and-forth motion for a zigzag pattern.
  7. Chop the fun-size candy bars into small bite-sized pieces. Sprinkle evenly over the apples. Add chopped peanut butter cups, toffee bits, and crushed pretzels (if using). Sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
  8. If using white chocolate chips, melt them the same way as the dark chocolate and drizzle over the top.
  9. Serve immediately while apples are crisp and caramel is warm. Enjoy with forks or hands.

Notes

For best results, serve immediately. Apples will start to brown after about 20 minutes. To prep ahead, slice apples and store in cold water with lemon juice; chop candy and melt chocolate separately. Assemble just before serving. For a dairy-free version, use dairy-free chocolate chips and vegan caramel sauce. For nut-free, swap nuts for extra crushed pretzels or toasted coconut flakes.
