Perfect Apple Cider Margarita: Easy Fall Cocktail Recipe

  • Author: Sarah Wasserman
  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

This quick and easy apple cider margarita combines tequila, fresh apple cider, and lime juice with a cinnamon sugar rim for the perfect fall cocktail. Ready in under five minutes, it’s a crowd-pleasing drink that tastes like autumn in a glass.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ounces tequila blanco or reposado
  • 3 ounces apple cider (unfiltered)
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • ½ ounce orange liqueur (triple sec, Cointreau, or Grand Marnier)
  • ½ ounce maple syrup or agave nectar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for rim)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for rim)
  • Ice (large cubes preferred)
  • Apple slice and cinnamon stick (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cinnamon sugar rim: On a small plate, mix 2 tablespoons granulated sugar with 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon. Cut a lime wedge and run it around the rim of your glass. Dip the wet rim into the cinnamon sugar mixture, rotating gently to coat evenly. Tap off any excess. Set aside.
  2. Fill your glass with ice. Add a handful of large ice cubes to the prepared glass.
  3. Combine the liquid ingredients: In a cocktail shaker, add 2 ounces tequila, 3 ounces apple cider, 1 ounce fresh lime juice, ½ ounce orange liqueur, and ½ ounce maple syrup.
  4. Add ice to the shaker: Fill the shaker about halfway with ice.
  5. Shake vigorously: Secure the lid and shake hard for about 15 seconds until the shaker feels frosty.
  6. Strain into your prepared glass: Remove the lid and strain the margarita into the ice-filled glass.
  7. Garnish and serve: Add a thin apple slice and a cinnamon stick to the glass. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh lime juice for best results—bottled juice will make the drink taste flat. Chill your glass in the freezer for 10 minutes before serving. For a party, mix the liquid ingredients (without ice) in a pitcher and refrigerate for up to 3 days; shake individual portions with ice when ready to serve. Leftover cinnamon sugar mixture can be stored in an airtight container for up to a month.
