Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza Dip: Easy Cast Iron Recipe

  • Author: Sarah Wasserman
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

This hot honey pepperoni pizza dip is a game day favorite, featuring a creamy cheese base, gooey mozzarella, crispy pepperoni, and a sweet-heat finish from hot honey. Ready in under 30 minutes and baked in a cast iron skillet for those irresistible crispy edges.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup mini pepperoni (or regular pepperoni sliced into quarters, plus extra for topping)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons hot honey
  • Fresh parsley or basil, chopped for garnish (optional)
  • For serving: crusty bread, baguette slices, tortilla chips, pita chips, or celery sticks

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F. While it is heating up, take your cream cheese out of the fridge and let it sit on the counter to soften.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, half of the shredded mozzarella (about 1/2 cup), all of the provolone, the Parmesan, garlic powder, oregano, and red pepper flakes if using. Mix until well combined.
  3. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly into the bottom of your cast iron skillet, smoothing it out into an even layer that reaches the edges.
  4. Pour the pizza sauce over the cream cheese layer and spread it gently.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of mozzarella over the sauce.
  6. Scatter the mini pepperoni over the top. Place a few extra in the center for extra crispiness.
  7. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and starting to brown around the edges.
  8. Remove the skillet from the oven and let it rest for 2 to 3 minutes.
  9. Drizzle the hot honey generously over the top.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley or basil if desired, and serve immediately with crusty bread, chips, or your choice of dippers.

Notes

Do not use low-fat cream cheese. Shred your own cheese for best melting. Watch the oven after 15 minutes to avoid burning. Let the dip rest before serving to allow it to set. For extra crispy pepperoni, add a few slices to the top 5 minutes before done.
