Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza Dip – Easy 20-Min Skillet Appetizer

  • Author: Sarah Wasserman
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

This Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza Dip is the ultimate game day appetizer—creamy, cheesy, and topped with crispy pepperoni and a sweet-spicy hot honey drizzle. Ready in just 20 minutes, it’s a crowd-pleaser that will have everyone coming back for more.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • ½ cup shredded provolone cheese
  • ½ cup pizza sauce
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 3 oz pepperoni slices (about 3035 slices)
  • 2 tablespoons hot honey
  • Fresh parsley or basil, chopped (for garnish, optional)
  • Bread, crackers, or tortilla chips (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Position the rack in the middle of the oven.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, ½ cup of the shredded mozzarella, the provolone, garlic powder, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Mix until well incorporated.
  3. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly into the bottom of a 10-inch cast iron skillet.
  4. Spoon the pizza sauce over the cream cheese layer, leaving about a ½-inch border around the edges.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup mozzarella over the sauce.
  6. Arrange the pepperoni slices on top of the cheese, overlapping slightly.
  7. Bake for 15-17 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the pepperoni starts to get crispy around the edges. For extra crispy pepperoni, broil for the last 1-2 minutes.
  8. Remove the skillet from the oven and let it cool for 2-3 minutes.
  9. Drizzle the hot honey generously over the top.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley or basil if desired. Serve immediately with bread, crackers, or tortilla chips.

Notes

Softening the cream cheese is non-negotiable to avoid lumps. Shred your own cheese for the best melt. Do not add hot honey before baking—it will burn. Let the dip rest 2-3 minutes before serving to prevent runniness. For a spicier version, add cayenne to the cream cheese mixture or use spicy pepperoni.
