Description
These easy small-batch chocolate chip cookies come together in one bowl, require no chilling, and bake in under 15 minutes. Perfect for late-night cravings or lazy Sundays, they deliver crispy edges and soft, chewy centers every time.
Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ⅓ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, plus more for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a small baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals until fully melted. Let it cool for 2 minutes.
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and slightly thickened, about 30 seconds.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract. Whisk until fully combined and the mixture looks pale and creamy, about 1 minute.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients. Fold gently with a rubber spatula or wooden spoon until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips. Reserve about a tablespoon of chips to press onto the tops of the dough balls before baking.
- Scoop the dough into 6 to 8 equal balls (about 1.5 tablespoons each). Place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart.
- Press the reserved chocolate chips onto the tops of each dough ball.
- Bake immediately for 9 to 11 minutes, until edges are golden brown and centers are slightly puffed and cracked.
- Let the cookies rest on the baking sheet for 5 minutes.
- Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely, or serve warm.
Notes
Let melted butter cool for at least 2 minutes before adding the egg to avoid scrambling. Spoon and level the flour for accurate measurement. Start checking cookies at 8 minutes; they continue to set on the hot pan. For best results, use room temperature egg. If dough is too soft, chill for 15 minutes.
