  • Author: Sarah Wasserman
  • Total Time: 3 hours 30 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

These easy slow cooker honey garlic meatballs are the ultimate game day appetizer. With a sweet, savory, and sticky glaze, they’re incredibly simple to make and always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs frozen homestyle meatballs
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 45 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Lightly spray the inside of a 4-6 quart slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray. Place the frozen meatballs directly into the slow cooker.
  2. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, ketchup, minced garlic, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes until smooth.
  3. Pour the sauce over the meatballs and gently toss to coat evenly.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 3-4 hours or on HIGH for 1.5-2 hours. Stir gently about 30 minutes before serving.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and cold water until smooth. Pour the slurry into the slow cooker and stir gently. Cover and cook on HIGH for another 15-20 minutes until the sauce thickens to a glossy, syrupy consistency.
  6. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve directly from the slow cooker set to WARM, with toothpicks or small skewers.

Notes

For a spicier version, add 1-2 teaspoons of sriracha or sambal oelek. To make gluten-free, use tamari or coconut aminos instead of soy sauce and ensure meatballs are gluten-free. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
