Description
These easy slow cooker honey garlic meatballs are the ultimate game day appetizer. With a sweet, savory, and sticky glaze, they’re incredibly simple to make and always a crowd-pleaser.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs frozen homestyle meatballs
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 4–5 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons cold water
- Sesame seeds for garnish
- Sliced green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Lightly spray the inside of a 4-6 quart slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray. Place the frozen meatballs directly into the slow cooker.
- In a small mixing bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, ketchup, minced garlic, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes until smooth.
- Pour the sauce over the meatballs and gently toss to coat evenly.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 3-4 hours or on HIGH for 1.5-2 hours. Stir gently about 30 minutes before serving.
- In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and cold water until smooth. Pour the slurry into the slow cooker and stir gently. Cover and cook on HIGH for another 15-20 minutes until the sauce thickens to a glossy, syrupy consistency.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve directly from the slow cooker set to WARM, with toothpicks or small skewers.
Notes
For a spicier version, add 1-2 teaspoons of sriracha or sambal oelek. To make gluten-free, use tamari or coconut aminos instead of soy sauce and ensure meatballs are gluten-free. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
