Easy No-Bake Peanut Butter Protein Balls Recipe for Quick Meal Prep

  • Author: Sarah Wasserman
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 12 balls 1x

Description

These no-bake peanut butter protein balls are quick, easy, and perfect for meal prep. They combine peanut butter, oats, and protein powder for a nutritious, grab-and-go snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (90g) rolled oats (old-fashioned, not instant; gluten-free if needed)
  • 1/2 cup (125g) natural peanut butter (creamy or chunky, unsweetened preferred)
  • 1/4 cup (30g) vanilla protein powder (whey or plant-based)
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon (10g) chia seeds or flaxseed meal (optional)
  • Mini dark chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Gather your ingredients: Measure out oats, peanut butter, protein powder, honey or maple syrup, and optional add-ins.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine oats, protein powder, chia seeds (if using), ground cinnamon, and sea salt. Stir to distribute evenly.
  3. Add the wet ingredients: Spoon in peanut butter and drizzle honey or maple syrup over the top. Mix thoroughly until the mixture starts to come together.
  4. Adjust the texture: If too dry, add 1 teaspoon of water or almond milk at a time until mixture sticks but is not wet. If too wet, add more oats.
  5. Form the balls: Scoop about 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of mixture and roll into tight balls. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet or plate. Repeat until all mixture is used (about 12 balls).
  6. Chill: Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up the balls.
  7. Store: Transfer to an airtight container. Keep refrigerated up to one week or freeze for longer storage.

Notes

Use natural peanut butter without added sugars or oils for best flavor and texture. Rolling balls with slightly damp hands prevents sticking. Chilling is essential to help balls set and improve texture. Adjust wet and dry ingredients carefully for desired consistency. Optional add-ins like chia seeds, chocolate chips, or cinnamon add flavor and nutrition.
