Description
These easy mummy pretzel dogs are the perfect Halloween snack—salty, buttery, and just a little bit ridiculous. Made with just five simple ingredients, they come together in under 25 minutes and are always a crowd-pleaser.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 8 pretzel rods
- 8 hot dogs
- Yellow mustard
- Candy eyes
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unroll the crescent dough onto a clean cutting board. If using perforated triangle sheets, press the seams together gently to seal into one solid rectangle.
- Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, slice the dough lengthwise into 8 to 10 strips, each about 1/2 inch wide.
- Wrap each pretzel rod with a dough strip, starting at one end and winding diagonally with slight overlap. Leave a small gap at the top and bottom so the pretzel shows through.
- Place the wrapped pretzels on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and puffed.
- Let them cool for 2 minutes on the baking sheet.
- Using a toothpick or the tip of a knife, drizzle small lines of yellow mustard over the dough to look like bandage wraps.
- Place two small dots of mustard on the exposed pretzel at the top of each mummy, then press a candy eye onto each dot.
- Serve immediately or keep warm in a 200°F oven for up to 20 minutes.
Notes
Keep the dough cold for easier handling. Don’t stretch the dough when wrapping—gentle wrapping gives puffy bandages. For extra crunch, toast pretzel rods at 350°F for 3 minutes before wrapping. Use a generous dab of mustard as glue for the candy eyes. The imperfect mummies look more realistic and taste just as good.
