Easy Mummy Hot Dogs: Best Crescent Dough Recipe

  • Author: Sarah Wasserman
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

Quick Mummy Hot Dogs with Crescent Dough Wraps are a fun, kid-approved weeknight dinner or Halloween party treat. Ready in under 25 minutes with only 3 main ingredients, these cute and creepy mummy dogs are sure to bring smiles to the table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 hot dogs (standard size, about 6 inches each)
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent rolls
  • Mustard or ketchup (for the eyes)
  • Optional: Cooking spray or parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or spray it lightly with cooking spray.
  2. Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into 8 triangles if using the perforated kind. If you have the seamless sheet, just cut it into 8 roughly equal rectangles.
  3. Cut each triangle into thin strips—about 3 to 4 strips per triangle, approximately ½ inch wide.
  4. Wrap each hot dog with the dough strips, starting at one end and working your way to the other. Leave a small gap near the top of the hot dog for the face—about ½ inch is perfect. Overlap the strips slightly so they look like mummy bandages.
  5. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and puffed.
  7. Let them cool for 2 to 3 minutes on the baking sheet before moving them to a cooling rack.
  8. Add the eyes using small dabs of mustard or ketchup. Use a toothpick or the tip of a knife for precise placement.

Notes

Don’t overwork the dough. Space the mummies out on the pan to avoid steaming. Watch the oven closely during the last few minutes to prevent burning. Use room temperature dough for easier handling. Let them cool for a couple of minutes before serving for best texture.
