Description
These easy turkey cranberry sliders on Hawaiian rolls are the perfect way to use up leftover holiday turkey. With a buttery, savory topping and melty Swiss cheese, they come together in under 20 minutes for a crowd-pleasing meal or appetizer.
Ingredients
- 1 (12-count) package Hawaiian sweet rolls (e.g., King’s Hawaiian)
- 1 pound cooked turkey, thinly sliced or shredded
- 8–10 slices Swiss cheese
- 1/2 cup cranberry sauce (jellied preferred)
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Keep the Hawaiian rolls connected as a whole block. Using a sharp serrated knife, carefully slice the entire block of rolls in half horizontally. Place the bottom half in a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Spread the 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise evenly over the cut side of the bottom rolls.
- Arrange the sliced or shredded turkey evenly over the bottom rolls.
- Dollop the cranberry sauce over the turkey and gently spread it into an even layer.
- Lay the Swiss cheese slices evenly over the cranberry sauce.
- Carefully place the top half of the rolls over the cheese, cut-side down. Gently press down.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Using a pastry brush, generously brush the entire butter mixture over the tops of the rolls, including the edges and in between the rolls.
- Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil. Bake for 15 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for another 5-7 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- Let the sliders rest in the dish for 5 minutes before slicing along the seams of the rolls. Serve warm.
Notes
For best results, let turkey and cheese sit at room temperature for 15 minutes before assembling. Don’t overbake; 15 minutes covered then 5-7 minutes uncovered is ideal. Let sliders rest 5 minutes before cutting to prevent cheese from oozing out. To make ahead, assemble without butter topping, refrigerate up to 24 hours, then add topping and bake (add 5-10 minutes to covered baking time).
