Description
A simple, quick, and wholesome snack box featuring cheese, crackers, fresh fruit, nuts, and optional dips, perfect for kids’ lunchboxes or light snacks.
Ingredients
- 2 ounces (60 g) cheddar cheese, sliced or cubed (sharp or mild)
- Optional: 2 tablespoons (30 g) cream cheese or soft goat cheese
- 10–12 whole grain or buttery water crackers (about 30 g)
- Optional: gluten-free crackers
- ½ cup (75 g) fresh fruit such as grapes or apple slices
- Optional: 1-2 tablespoons (15-30 g) almond butter or hummus
- 1 tablespoon (15 g) walnuts or roasted pumpkin seeds
- Optional: honey drizzle or sprinkle of dried herbs like oregano
Instructions
- Slice about 2 ounces (60 g) of cheddar cheese into bite-sized cubes or thin slices. If using cream cheese, scoop about 2 tablespoons (30 g) into a small container. Let cheese sit at room temperature for 10 minutes for better flavor and easier slicing.
- Select and portion 10-12 crackers (around 30 g). Arrange them neatly in one compartment or wrap them in parchment to keep crisp. Avoid stacking crackers too tightly to prevent breakage.
- Wash and dry grapes or slice an apple thinly (about ½ cup or 75 g). If using apple, toss slices with a little lemon juice to prevent browning.
- Place a small handful (about 1 tablespoon or 15 g) of walnuts or pumpkin seeds into a separate mini container or silicone cup. Be mindful of nut allergies if packing for school.
- Spoon 1-2 tablespoons (15-30 g) of almond butter or hummus into a small container. Prepare these in advance to speed up morning packing.
- Arrange all components in your lunchbox compartments — cheese, crackers, fruit, nuts, and dips separately to maintain texture and freshness.
- Optionally, drizzle a touch of honey over the cheese or sprinkle a pinch of dried oregano for a little twist.
Notes
Keep crackers separate from moist ingredients to avoid sogginess. Let cheese sit at room temperature before slicing for better flavor. Toss apple slices with lemon juice to prevent browning. Store snack box refrigerated until ready to eat. Pre-slice cheese and pre-portion nuts to save time. Substitute ingredients to accommodate dietary needs or preferences.
