Easy Crockpot Sloppy Joe Sliders Recipe Perfect for Family Lunch Prep

  • Author: Sarah Wasserman
  • Total Time: 4 hours 55 minutes
  • Yield: 12 sliders 1x

Description

This easy crockpot sloppy joe sliders recipe offers a fuss-free, slow-cooked, juicy sloppy joe filling inside soft mini buns, perfect for quick family lunches or meal prep.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (lean or regular)
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 12 slider buns (soft mini buns, e.g., King’s Hawaiian or classic white buns)

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned and no longer pink (about 6-8 minutes). Drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. Add finely chopped yellow onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Cook until onions are translucent and fragrant, about 4 minutes.
  3. In a bowl, mix tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, yellow mustard, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Pour the beef mixture into the crockpot and stir in the sauce mixture until well combined.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours or on high for 2-3 hours until thickened and flavors melded. If too watery, leave the lid off for the last 30 minutes to reduce.
  6. Slice open slider buns and toast lightly if desired to prevent sogginess.
  7. Use a slotted spoon to scoop sloppy joe filling onto each bun bottom. Top with bun lid and serve immediately or pack for lunch.

Notes

Brown the beef and onions first for deeper flavor. Drain excess fat to avoid greasy sliders. Stir filling occasionally during cooking. Toast buns lightly to prevent sogginess. If filling is watery, cook uncovered for 20-30 minutes to reduce. Can double recipe if crockpot is large enough or split between two.
