Easy Apple Cider Sangria with Fresh Fall Fruit

  • Author: Sarah Wasserman
  • Total Time: 2 hours 10 minutes (includes chilling)
  • Yield: 6-8 servings 1x

Description

This Easy Apple Cider Sangria with Fall Fruit is a quick and simple fall cocktail made with crisp white wine, spiced apple cider, fresh seasonal fruit, and a touch of bourbon. It’s perfect for gatherings and tastes like autumn in a glass.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry white wine (Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc)
  • 2 cups apple cider
  • 1/2 cup bourbon or brandy (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
  • 2 medium Honeycrisp apples, cored and thinly sliced
  • 1 large Bosc pear, cored and thinly sliced
  • 1 orange, sliced into thin rounds and quartered
  • 1 cup seedless red grapes, halved
  • 23 cinnamon sticks
  • 23 star anise pods (optional)
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prep the fruit: Core the apples and pear, then slice them into thin rounds or half-moons. Slice the orange into thin rounds, then quarter each round. Halve the grapes. Place all the fruit in the bottom of your pitcher.
  2. Add the spices: Tuck the cinnamon sticks and star anise pods in among the fruit.
  3. Mix the sweeteners: In a small bowl or measuring cup, whisk together the apple cider, bourbon (if using), and maple syrup until the syrup dissolves completely.
  4. Combine everything: Pour the cider mixture over the fruit and spices. Then slowly pour in the entire bottle of white wine. Stir gently with a wooden spoon to combine everything without crushing the fruit.
  5. Chill: Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, but 4-6 hours is better. Overnight is ideal.
  6. Serve: Fill glasses with ice. Pour the sangria, making sure to include some of the fruit in each glass. Garnish with a fresh rosemary sprig and an extra cinnamon stick if desired.

Notes

For best flavor, make 4-24 hours ahead. Don’t skip the bourbon—it adds warmth. Taste your apple cider first; if very sweet, reduce maple syrup. Serve cold but not ice-cold. Double the batch for parties.
