Creamy Spiderweb Buffalo Chicken Dip Bake – Easy 30-Minute Recipe

  • Author: Sarah Wasserman
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

This Creamy Spiderweb Buffalo Chicken Dip Bake is a fun and impressive appetizer that comes together in just 30 minutes. The spiderweb design of cream cheese on top creates pockets of cool, tangy flavor against the hot, spicy buffalo chicken underneath, making every bite interesting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken (about 12 oz)
  • ½ cup buffalo wing sauce
  • ½ cup ranch dressing
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 34 green onions, sliced
  • ¼ cup blue cheese crumbles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Take the cream cheese out of the fridge to soften for about 20 minutes.
  2. Drain and shred the chicken. If using canned chicken, drain the liquid and shred with two forks. If using leftover rotisserie chicken, shred about 2 cups.
  3. Mix the dip base: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, ½ cup buffalo sauce, ½ cup ranch dressing, ¾ cup of the shredded mozzarella, and all of the shredded cheddar. Stir until well combined.
  4. Spread the mixture into a 9-inch baking dish or pie plate in an even layer.
  5. Soften the cream cheese if needed (microwave for 15-20 seconds). Dollop spoonfuls of cream cheese all over the top of the chicken mixture.
  6. Create the spiderweb design: Using a butter knife, drag through the cream cheese blobs from the center outward to create spokes. Wipe the knife clean between each drag. Then drag the knife in a circular pattern around the center to connect the spokes.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining ¼ cup of shredded mozzarella over the top.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until bubbly around the edges and the cheese is melted and lightly golden. For a browner top, broil for the last 2 minutes, watching closely.
  9. Let the dip rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  10. Garnish with sliced green onions and blue cheese crumbles if using. Serve warm with tortilla chips, celery sticks, or crusty bread.

Notes

Don’t overmix the cream cheese swirl to keep the spiderweb design intact. Use room temperature cream cheese for easier spreading. Watch the broiler closely to avoid burning. The dip can be assembled a day in advance and refrigerated; add 5-10 minutes to baking time if starting from cold.
