Creamy Peanut Butter Protein Smoothie Bowl: Easy 5-Minute Breakfast

  • Author: Sarah Wasserman
  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

A thick, creamy, spoonable breakfast that tastes like dessert but keeps you full until lunch. Made with frozen bananas, peanut butter, and protein powder, this 5-minute smoothie bowl is the perfect quick and satisfying breakfast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 medium ripe bananas, sliced and frozen
  • 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter (natural preferred)
  • ½ cup unsweetened almond milk (or more as needed)
  • 1 scoop vanilla or unflavored protein powder
  • Optional toppings: sliced banana, extra peanut butter drizzle, granola, chia seeds, dark chocolate chips, cinnamon, cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. Peel and slice 2 ripe bananas. Place slices on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  2. Add frozen banana slices, peanut butter, almond milk, and protein powder to a blender. Start with liquid first to help blending.
  3. Blend on low speed, gradually increasing to high. Use a tamper or stop to scrape down sides as needed.
  4. Blend for 30-45 seconds until thick and scoopable, like soft-serve ice cream. Add more milk if too thick, or more frozen banana if too thin.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness or peanut butter flavor as desired.
  6. Blend on high for another 10-15 seconds until completely smooth.
  7. Transfer to a bowl using a spatula.
  8. Add desired toppings and serve immediately.

Notes

Use ripe bananas with brown spots for maximum sweetness. Start with less liquid and add more as needed. If blender struggles, let frozen bananas thaw for 2-3 minutes. For meal prep, blend base and freeze in individual portions for up to 2 weeks. For a thicker bowl, add less milk or more frozen banana. For a thinner bowl, add more milk.
