Description
A cozy, sweet, and spiced sangria made with white wine, apple cider, caramel sauce, and fresh fruit. It’s the perfect fall drink for gatherings or a quiet night in.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 bottle (750 ml) Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc
- 2 cups apple cider (not apple juice)
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce (plus more for drizzling)
- 1/4 cup brandy or bourbon (optional but recommended)
- 2–3 cinnamon sticks
- 2 apples (Honeycrisp or Fuji), cored and thinly sliced
- 1 pear (Bartlett or Bosc), cored and thinly sliced
- 1 orange, thinly sliced
- Ice (for serving)
Instructions
- Wash and dry the apples, pear, and orange. Core the apples and pear, then slice them thinly. Slice the orange into thin rounds.
- In a large pitcher, pour in the caramel sauce. Add the brandy (if using) and stir until the caramel is mostly dissolved.
- Pour in the entire bottle of white wine and the apple cider. Stir gently with a wooden spoon. Taste and adjust sweetness if desired.
- Gently add the sliced apples, pear, and orange rounds. Add the cinnamon sticks. Stir to combine.
- Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
- When ready to serve, drizzle extra caramel sauce around the inside of each glass.
- Fill each glass with ice. Pour the sangria over the ice, including some fruit in each glass. Garnish with a fresh cinnamon stick if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
For best flavor, let the sangria chill overnight. Use a dry white wine to balance the sweetness. The fruit will soften and absorb the liquid over time, becoming delicious to eat. For a non-alcoholic version, substitute sparkling apple cider or ginger ale for the wine and omit the brandy.
