Description
This Sticky Honey Garlic Salmon & Asparagus is a quick, one-pan dinner that comes together in under 30 minutes. The glossy, savory-sweet glaze coats tender salmon and crisp-tender asparagus for a satisfying weeknight meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
- 1 bunch asparagus (about 1 lb, trimmed)
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 4–5 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and pepper. Trim woody ends off asparagus.
- In a small bowl, whisk together honey, low-sodium soy sauce, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes (if using). Set aside.
- Place trimmed asparagus on a baking sheet or in the skillet you’ll use for the salmon. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon olive oil, season with salt and pepper, and toss to coat. Spread in a single layer.
- Place an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil. Once shimmering, place salmon fillets skin-side down (or presentation-side down). Sear undisturbed for 3-4 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Flip salmon fillets. Pour honey garlic glaze over fillets and around the pan. Add minced garlic to the pan, stirring into the glaze. Let bubble for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- If using an oven-safe skillet, place it directly into the preheated oven. If not, transfer salmon and glaze to a baking dish. Place seasoned asparagus around the salmon. Roast for 10-12 minutes until salmon flakes easily and asparagus is tender-crisp.
- Remove from oven. Drizzle with sesame oil (if using). Sprinkle with sesame seeds and extra red pepper flakes. Serve immediately over steamed rice, quinoa, or your favorite grain.
Notes
Pat salmon dry for best sear. Watch garlic to avoid burning. Use low-sodium soy sauce to control salt. Let glaze reduce in oven for sticky consistency. Rest salmon 1-2 minutes before serving.
