Best High-Protein Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream Recipe

  • Author: Sarah Wasserman
  • Total Time: 24 hours 5 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings 1x

Description

A creamy, rich, and high-protein chocolate peanut butter ice cream made with simple ingredients and a Ninja Creami. Perfect for a post-workout treat or a healthy dessert that tastes like a cheat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any milk)
  • 2 scoops chocolate protein powder (recommended: Orgain or Ghost Whey)
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter (natural, no-stir kind)
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup (or honey, or stevia)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar-free chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped peanuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a blender, combine almond milk, chocolate protein powder, cocoa powder, peanut butter, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Blend on high for about 30 seconds until completely smooth, like a thick milkshake.
  2. Pour the mixture into a Ninja Creami pint container, not filling past the max fill line. Secure the lid and freeze on a flat surface for a full 24 hours.
  3. After 24 hours, remove the pint from the freezer. Remove the lid and place it into the Ninja Creami outer bowl. Lock into the machine and select the ‘Ice Cream’ setting. Let it spin until the cycle finishes.
  4. If using mix-ins, make a small well in the center of the ice cream, add chocolate chips and/or chopped peanuts, then run the ‘Mix-In’ cycle. Alternatively, stir in by hand.
  5. Serve immediately for a soft-serve texture. For a firmer scoop, freeze for an additional 10–15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Freeze for a full 24 hours for best texture. If ice cream comes out powdery, add a tablespoon of milk and run the ‘Re-Spin’ cycle. Use room temperature peanut butter for easier blending. Taste the base before freezing and adjust sweetness if needed.
