Best Cranberry Orange Holiday Punch with Ginger Ale

  • Author: Sarah Wasserman
  • Total Time: 10 minutes (plus optional chilling time)
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

This quick and easy cranberry orange holiday punch with ginger ale is the perfect festive drink for any gathering. Made with simple ingredients, it’s a crowd-pleaser that comes together in under ten minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (960 ml) cranberry juice cocktail
  • 2 cups (480 ml) orange juice, pulp-free
  • 4 cups (960 ml) ginger ale
  • 1 cup (120 g) fresh cranberries
  • 1 large navel orange
  • 1 medium lime
  • 2–3 tablespoons (30–45 ml) honey or simple syrup (optional)
  • 2–3 cinnamon sticks
  • Ice (lots of it)

Instructions

  1. Wash the orange and lime thoroughly. Slice the orange into thin rounds, about a quarter-inch thick. Slice the lime into thin rounds too. Set aside a few of the prettiest slices for garnish.
  2. Squeeze the remaining orange slices (the ones you’re not using for garnish) into a small bowl. You should get about 2-3 tablespoons of fresh orange juice. Squeeze the lime slices too—you want about 1 tablespoon of lime juice.
  3. In a large pitcher or punch bowl, pour in the cranberry juice cocktail and orange juice. Add the fresh orange juice and lime juice. Stir gently to combine. Add the honey or simple syrup if using, and stir until dissolved.
  4. Drop in the cinnamon sticks and a handful of fresh cranberries. Let them float on top.
  5. If time allows, refrigerate the juice mixture for at least 30 minutes (or up to overnight) to let the flavors meld. Do not add the ginger ale until ready to serve.
  6. When ready to serve, slowly pour the ginger ale into the pitcher. Stir gently—just a few swirls to combine.
  7. Float the reserved orange and lime slices on top. Add a few more fresh cranberries for color. Fill glasses with ice and pour the punch over the top. Garnish each glass with a cinnamon stick if desired.

Notes

For best results, chill all ingredients beforehand. Make an ice ring with cranberries and orange slices for a stunning presentation that melts slowly. If making ahead, mix the juice base (without ginger ale) up to 24 hours in advance and add ginger ale just before serving. For a spiked version, add 1 cup of vodka or rum to the juice mixture before adding ginger ale.
