5-Minute Peanut Butter Protein Smoothie Bowl (Best Easy Recipe)

  • Author: Sarah Wasserman
  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

This 5-minute peanut butter protein smoothie bowl is thick, creamy, and packed with protein to keep you full until lunch. Made with simple ingredients like frozen banana, peanut butter, and a secret ingredient (cottage cheese), it’s the perfect quick breakfast or post-workout refuel.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large frozen banana (about 120g)
  • ½ cup frozen strawberries (about 75g)
  • ¼ cup milk of choice (60ml), such as unsweetened almond milk
  • 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter (32g)
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (about 30g)
  • ¼ cup small-curd cottage cheese (60g)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (15ml), optional
  • For toppings: 2 tablespoons granola, sliced banana, 1 teaspoon peanut butter drizzle, 1 tablespoon dark chocolate chips, 1 teaspoon chia seeds or hemp hearts

Instructions

  1. Gather your ingredients. Ensure the banana is frozen solid—peeled, sliced into coins, and frozen in a single layer.
  2. Add liquid first: Pour ¼ cup milk into the blender.
  3. Add soft ingredients: Spoon in peanut butter, cottage cheese, and honey/maple syrup (if using).
  4. Add frozen fruit and protein powder: Toss in frozen banana slices, frozen strawberries, and protein powder.
  5. Blend on low for 10 seconds, then high for 30–45 seconds, stopping to scrape down sides with a rubber spatula once or twice. Mixture should be thick and creamy like soft-serve ice cream.
  6. Check texture: If too thick, add another tablespoon of milk; if too thin, add more frozen banana or ice cubes.
  7. Scoop into a bowl using a spatula (do not pour).
  8. Add toppings: Arrange granola, sliced banana, chocolate chips, chia seeds, and an extra drizzle of peanut butter.
  9. Serve immediately within 5–10 minutes for best texture.

Notes

For best results, use frozen banana (not fresh). Layer ingredients strategically: liquids first, then soft ingredients, then frozen fruit. Don’t over-blend to maintain thick texture. If making ahead, prep individual smoothie packs with frozen fruit and protein powder in freezer bags.
