Description
A sweet, slightly spicy, and refreshing beverage perfect for summer gatherings or an afternoon pick-me-up.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups (600g) watermelon chunks
- 1 jalapeño, halved and deseeded if desired
- Juice of 2 limes
- 1 cup (240ml) filtered water
- 1 tablespoon agave syrup or honey (optional, to taste)
- Ice cubes (for serving)
- Mint sprigs (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Cut the watermelon into chunks (about 4 cups or 600g). Slice the jalapeño in half and remove the seeds if you prefer a milder drink.
- Add the watermelon chunks, jalapeño halves, lime juice, and 1 cup (240ml) of water into your blender. Blend until smooth, about 1-2 minutes.
- Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a pitcher to remove pulp and seeds. Use a spoon to press the liquid through if needed.
- Taste the agua fresca and add sweetener as needed. Start with 1 tablespoon of agave syrup or honey and adjust to your liking.
- Refrigerate the pitcher for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld. Serve over ice for the ultimate refreshment.
- Optional: Garnish with a lime slice, a mint sprig, or a thin jalapeño slice for presentation.
Notes
Adjust the spice level by using less jalapeño or removing the seeds. Chill the ingredients beforehand for an instantly cool drink. Straining ensures a smooth texture, but you can skip it if you prefer a bit of pulp.
