Description
Thick, gooey chocolate chip cookie bars that are easy to make and packed with flavor. Perfect for busy days or impromptu sweet cravings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter
- 1 cup (200g) brown sugar
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups (270g) chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy lifting.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes). Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
- Fold in the chocolate chips using a spatula, ensuring they’re evenly distributed.
- Transfer the dough to your prepared baking pan and spread it evenly using a spatula. Smooth the top as best as you can.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before lifting them out using the parchment paper. Slice into squares or rectangles and enjoy.
Notes
For an extra indulgent twist, add chopped nuts, shredded coconut, or crushed pretzels. If using a glass baking dish, reduce the oven temperature by 25°F to avoid over-browning.
