  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pre-baked pie crust (homemade or store-bought)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and place the rack in the center position.
  2. If using a homemade crust, roll it out and fit it into your pie tin. Pre-bake the crust for 10 minutes to ensure it stays crisp.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together cocoa powder and granulated sugar until evenly combined.
  4. Melt the unsalted butter and let it cool slightly. Whisk in the eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter into the dry mixture.
  5. Once the mixture is smooth, pour it into the pre-baked pie crust. Use a spatula to spread it evenly.
  6. Place the pie in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes. The edges should be set, but the center will remain slightly soft.
  7. Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 1 hour before slicing.

Notes

For best results, use room-temperature eggs and butter. Pre-bake the crust to avoid sogginess, and don’t overbake the pie to maintain its fudgy texture.
