  • Author: Sarah
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 9 biscuits 1x

Description

Golden, crispy edges, a soft, fluffy center, and a rich buttery flavor make these butter swim biscuits a simple yet decadent treat. Perfect for any meal, they come together quickly with pantry staples.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 3/4 cups (420ml) buttermilk
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup or 113g) unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  2. Place 1 stick of unsalted butter in an 8×8-inch baking dish and melt it in the oven. Remove once melted.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  4. Pour in the buttermilk and stir until just combined. The batter will be thick and sticky.
  5. Carefully pour the batter into the melted butter in the baking dish. Spread it evenly with a spatula.
  6. Lightly score the top of the batter into 9 squares.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the edges are crispy.
  8. Let the biscuits cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Avoid overmixing the batter to keep the biscuits light and fluffy. Customize with add-ins like cheese, herbs, or spices for extra flavor.
