Description
A quick and easy dessert featuring vibrant berries, a buttery topping, and minimal effort. Perfect for busy weeknights, potlucks, or any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups mixed berries (fresh or frozen, such as blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 box vanilla or yellow cake mix
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
- Optional: Sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg
- Optional: Handful of chopped nuts (like pecans or almonds)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a 9×13-inch baking dish, add 4 cups of mixed berries. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of sugar evenly over the berries and toss gently to coat.
- Open the box of cake mix and spread it evenly over the berries. Use a spoon to smooth it out if needed.
- Melt 1 cup (2 sticks) of butter in the microwave, then pour it evenly over the cake mix. Ensure the entire surface is covered for even browning.
- Bake in the oven for 40-45 minutes, until the top is golden brown and slightly crisp, and the berries are bubbling underneath.
- Let the cake sit for 10 minutes before serving to allow the filling to settle.
Notes
For a crispier topping, switch to broil for 1-2 minutes at the end of baking, but watch closely to avoid burning. Adjust sugar based on the sweetness of your berries.
