Ingredients
Scale
- ½ cup (120ml) maple syrup
- 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup (150g) brown sugar
- ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ cup (120ml) milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp (30ml) maple syrup (for glaze)
- 1–2 tbsp (15-30ml) milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together 2 cups (240g) of all-purpose flour, 1 tsp of baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Set aside.
- In a larger bowl, cream ½ cup (115g) of softened butter and ¾ cup (150g) of brown sugar until fluffy. Add 2 eggs, one at a time, and mix well. Stir in ½ cup (120ml) of maple syrup, ½ cup (120ml) of milk, and 1 tsp of vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Spread the batter evenly in your prepared pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the bars cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- To prepare the glaze, mix 1 cup (120g) of powdered sugar with 2 tbsp (30ml) of maple syrup and 1-2 tbsp (15-30ml) of milk until smooth. Adjust the consistency as needed.
- Spread or drizzle the glaze over the cooled bars. Let it set for about 10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
For a seasonal twist, add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the batter. Use room temperature ingredients for a smoother batter. If using a smaller pan, increase the baking time slightly.
