  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 12 bars 1x

Description

These soft baked maple donut bars are the perfect fall treat, combining the comforting flavors of maple syrup with a tender, moist texture and a subtle maple glaze. Easy to make and perfect for sharing, they’re a seasonal favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup (120ml) maple syrup
  • 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup (150g) brown sugar
  • ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ cup (120ml) milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) maple syrup (for glaze)
  • 12 tbsp (15-30ml) milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together 2 cups (240g) of all-purpose flour, 1 tsp of baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Set aside.
  3. In a larger bowl, cream ½ cup (115g) of softened butter and ¾ cup (150g) of brown sugar until fluffy. Add 2 eggs, one at a time, and mix well. Stir in ½ cup (120ml) of maple syrup, ½ cup (120ml) of milk, and 1 tsp of vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. Spread the batter evenly in your prepared pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Let the bars cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. To prepare the glaze, mix 1 cup (120g) of powdered sugar with 2 tbsp (30ml) of maple syrup and 1-2 tbsp (15-30ml) of milk until smooth. Adjust the consistency as needed.
  8. Spread or drizzle the glaze over the cooled bars. Let it set for about 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

For a seasonal twist, add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the batter. Use room temperature ingredients for a smoother batter. If using a smaller pan, increase the baking time slightly.
