Healthy Cherry Greek Frozen Yogurt

  • Total Time: 4 hours 15 minutes to 6 hours 15 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A guilt-free, refreshing summer treat combining the creamy tang of Greek yogurt with the sweet-tart burst of ripe cherries. Naturally sweetened and easy to make, it’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (300g) fresh cherries, pitted (or thawed frozen cherries)
  • 2 cups (500g) full-fat Greek yogurt (or 2% for a lighter option)
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) honey (or maple syrup as an alternative)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Wash and pit the cherries (around 2 cups or 300g). If using frozen cherries, thaw them first.
  2. Add the cherries, 2 cups (500g) of Greek yogurt, 1/4 cup (60ml) honey, 1 tsp vanilla extract, and 1 tbsp lemon juice to a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  3. If using an ice cream maker, chill the blended mixture in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. If not, pour it directly into a freezer-safe container.
  4. For an ice cream maker, follow the manufacturer’s instructions to churn the mixture into frozen yogurt. Without an ice cream maker, spread the mixture evenly in a container and freeze for 4-6 hours, stirring every hour to break up ice crystals.
  5. Scoop into bowls or cones and enjoy immediately! Garnish with fresh cherries or a drizzle of honey for extra flair.

Notes

For a vegan option, use coconut yogurt and agave syrup instead of Greek yogurt and honey. Stirring the mixture every hour during freezing prevents ice crystals and ensures a smooth texture. Let the frozen yogurt sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes before scooping if it’s too firm.
