Description
These Gooey Caramel Apple Crumble Bars combine buttery oat crumble, spiced apples, and rich caramel for a cozy fall dessert that’s easy to make and share.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 medium apples (about 4 cups), peeled, cored, and diced
- 1 cup (240ml) caramel sauce
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups (150g) old-fashioned oats
- 1 cup (200g) brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, cold
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix 2 cups (250g) of flour, 1 1/2 cups (150g) of old-fashioned oats, 1 cup (200g) of brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Cut in 1 cup (230g) of cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Reserve 1 1/2 cups of this mixture for the crumble topping and press the rest firmly into the prepared pan to form the crust.
- In another bowl, toss the diced apples with 1/4 cup (50g) of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
- Spread the apple mixture evenly over the crust. Drizzle 1 cup (240ml) of caramel sauce over the apples.
- Sprinkle the reserved crumble mixture evenly over the top.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the caramel is bubbling around the edges. Let the bars cool completely in the pan before slicing.
Notes
For best results, use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp. Let the bars cool completely before slicing for clean cuts. Store in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
