Description
This easy cheese bread is a comforting, cheesy homemade loaf that’s quick to make and perfect for family dinners, gatherings, or an indulgent snack.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon (12g) baking powder
- 1 teaspoon (5g) garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon (3g) salt (if using unsalted butter)
- 1 1/2 cups (150g) shredded cheese (e.g., sharp cheddar, mozzarella, Parmesan, or pepper jack)
- 1 cup (240ml) milk
- 1/4 cup (60g) melted butter
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or cooking spray.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, garlic powder, and salt (if using unsalted butter).
- Stir in the shredded cheese until evenly coated with the flour mixture.
- In a smaller bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, and egg.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture. Gently fold everything together using a spatula—do not overmix. The batter should be thick and slightly lumpy.
- Spoon the batter into the greased loaf pan, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack. Slice and serve warm.
Notes
For best results, use freshly grated cheese instead of pre-shredded cheese. Customize the flavor with herbs like rosemary or chives, or add a spicy kick with jalapeños or cayenne pepper.
