Description
These Cinnamon Sugar Churro Bites are bite-sized versions of the classic churro, featuring a crispy golden exterior coated in a sweet cinnamon-sugar blend. Perfect for sharing or enjoying solo, they’re an easy and crowd-pleasing treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (120 g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (113 g) unsalted butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup (240 ml) water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, bring 1 cup (240 ml) of water, 1/2 cup (113 g) of unsalted butter, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt to a boil. Reduce heat and add 1 cup (120 g) of all-purpose flour. Stir vigorously until the dough forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
- Allow the dough to cool for 5-10 minutes before adding 2 large eggs, one at a time. Mix until the dough is smooth and shiny.
- In a deep pot or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.
- Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe small segments (about 1 inch long) directly into the hot oil, using scissors to cut the dough off the tip. Fry in batches for 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove churro bites with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain. While still warm, toss them in a mixture of 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar and 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon.
- Enjoy immediately or pair with dipping sauces like chocolate ganache or dulce de leche.
Notes
Keep the oil temperature steady at 375°F to ensure even cooking. Avoid overcrowding the pot to maintain the oil temperature. Use fresh cinnamon for the best flavor.
